Why am I not matching to tests/ receiving a test?

Tester criteria, clients and the end-user

Testing with the user

In usability, it's the user whose opinion matters. It's not the developer's, the designer's or even the CEO's!

In an ideal world, anyone who encountered a product could use it but that's not what we see in reality. Every single one of us is different, we have different wants, experiences, expectations, thought patterns and that all influence how we interact with a product.

It's possible to have a 15 month-old who knows to press the "skip ad" button on Youtube to see her songs faster but to have an adult stumble with even the most intuitive smartphone interface.

There are lots of things that make up the target user for our clients, sometimes it's demographics like age, gender, or location. Other times, it's far more complicated or someone needs to have a specific job. Often there are layers of criteria that all need to be met. That's why we have you fill out a profile and why sometimes we have to ask you extra questions.

Usability means usability for the right target group.

Why am I not receiving a test?

If you're not receiving any tests right now, or not being invited to the Entry Test, this means we don't have any projects which match your profile.

Here's what happens:

  • Our clients define what kind of tester profiles and devices are needed for a test

  • Our system then filters for the right testers by searching for specific information in testers’ profiles and device lists for relevant:

    • Demographics: gender, age, country of residence, languages etc.

    • Devices: operating system and version, device model etc.

  • Those who fit the right test requirements will be invited automatically. Click here if you’d like more detailed information about how our invitation process works. Or see this article: How do you choose testers for a test?

Sometimes it takes a long time between invitations! This doesn’t mean anything is wrong. As soon as we have a project that matches your profile, then our system will send you an invitation directly via email.

The best way to ensure you do not miss out on any invitations that match your profile is to:

  1. Fill out your profile and your device information as fully as possible and keep it up to date. This is the information our system uses to invite you to the right tests. The more we know about you, the more accurately we can match you to upcoming project opportunities!

  2. Have more than one device you can test with? Make sure you add them all to your device list. Every test is different so the devices clients request are always changing. You can increase your chances of testing by including every device available to you. It’s helpful to have a diverse device list (different device types, models and OS).

  3. Keep an eye on the BirdNews feed on your dashboard for test-related posts. Sometimes you might not fit the right target group for a test, but know somebody who does. You can earn money and/or Community Points for recommending a friend for an upcoming or ongoing project. By supporting the growth of your community, you’ll contribute to helping us offer more projects in the future.

  4. Put your skills to the test and earn up to 350 Experience Points! If you'd like to learn more for future tests, be sure to check out our courses in the Bird School on topics like Bugs and Usability. You can earn EPs by completing the courses and respective quizzes.

Already done all of that and still no invite?

Unfortunately, this means we don't have a client looking to test your profile right now. This can change at any time. Be sure to add the following email addresses to your safe senders to make sure invitations are delivered to your inbox (noreply@testbirds.com , noreply@testbirds.de, noreply@testbirds.hu  ) and consider downloading the Testbirds Companion App so you can get push notifications when we sent you an invitation.
